Archery elk hunts take place in September, which is at the beginning of the rut. The general elk rifle season is in November, and it is not uncommon to see 10-15 bulls a day on this hunt. Muzzleloader elk hunts take place at the end of September. Methods of hunting include spot and stalk, hunting from tree stands and ground blinds and calling. Hunters need to be prepared to cover a lot of terrain and be in good physical condition.
