These private land elk hunts in New Mexico are conducted on one of the best trophy elk ranches in the state.  This unit encompasses over 300,000 acres and holds great elk, both in quantity and quality!  The archery hunts start in late August and run into mid September, during the early rut.  The rifle hunts start in early October and run through the end of January.  The early October hunts also coincide with the rut as well.
